Welcome to Year 6!

Our teachers are Mrs H Makins (Monday-Wednesday), Mrs S Nash [Deputy Head Teacher] (Thursdays) Mrs H Yarnold [Head of School] (Fridays) and our teaching assistant is Mrs Miles.

Forest school will be on a Thursday afternoon (Autumn Term 2). Children to wear their school uniform and change into their old clothes at lunchtime. Children will need to bring wellies. They should wear a long-sleeved top, long trousers/leggings, and waterproofs (coat and trousers please).

PE is on a Monday morning. Children must get changed for PE in school, and will therefore need to ensure they have their kit with them. PE kit consists of:

A plain white t-shirt
Black or dark blue shorts, leggings or joggers
Trainers suitable for outdoor PE
Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather: we will be going outside!

Reading should be happening every day at home – it has been lovely to see so many children writing comments in their reading diaries to tell us about the book they are reading, please keep this up.

Spellings are set on a Friday and tested the following Friday. Children will come home with a red spelling book containing their spellings. There are lots of different ways you can practise spellings, such as:

Look, say, cover, write, check.
Using the words in sentences.
Rainbow writing the word in different colours.
Spelling games and apps.

Little and often is the best way to practice spellings and will really help your child.
