Welcome to Year 6! Our teacher is Miss Chambers and our teaching assistant is Mrs Miles.

Forest school is on a Wednesday morning. Children can wear their kit to school but must bring their school uniform to change into afterwards. Children will need wellies, a long sleeved top, long trousers/leggings, and waterproofs (coat and trousers please).

PE is on a Monday morning. Children must get changed for PE in school, and will therefore need to ensure they have their kit with them. PE kit consists of:

  • A plain white t-shirt
  • Black or dark blue shorts, leggings or joggers
  • Trainers suitable for outdoor PE

Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the weather: we will be going outside!

Reading should be happening every day at home – it has been lovely to see so many children writing comments in their reading diaries to tell us about the book they are reading, please keep this up.

Spellings are set on a Wednesday and tested the following Wednesday. Children will come home with a red spelling book containing their spellings. There are lots of different ways you can practise spellings, such as:

  • Look, say, cover, write, check.
  • Using the words in sentences.
  • Rainbow writing the word in different colours.
  • Spelling games and apps.

Little and often is the best way to practise spellings and will really help your child.

More information about our homework routines will follow but we do try to keep it to little and often as much as possible!
