Welcome to Reception – the start of an exciting learning adventure.

Every child is unique, and every child is wonderful. At St. Peter’s, we ensure all of these wonderful little ones play, learn and grow in a happy, safe, inspiring and inclusive environment. The children always come first.

In Reception, we follow the EYFS framework and we use Development Matters to support us to provide a child-centered approach to learning in a fully inclusive setting.

A child’s drive to learn is often through their own interests and fascinations and a learning experience for a child can become so much more valuable by incorporating these interests. In our Reception class, we follow the children’s interests and adapt our learning environment and activities based on these things. This helps us to support the children to develop and learn through lots of play and exploration – the best way to learn!

Our fantastic new Reception class have already settled in beautifully and we are very proud of them. It’s going to be a brilliant year.

Below you will find our Autumn term timetable and topic web. Topic webs are split into the 7 areas of the Early Years curriculum and show specific links for each term. This is the scaffolding for our curriculum and we then use the children’s interests to further support our teaching. Our timetable shows you a breakdown of our week in more detail.

You should have received a QR code to connect with your child’s Seesaw journal. We upload photos and news to this regularly to keep you updated so if you are having any difficulty joining our page, please do let me know. You can also use Seesaw to message me with any queries you might have, or to share anything that your child has been up to at home.
